Federal Minister of Economics Katherina Reiche (CDU) wants to use the upcoming pension reform to direct more private capital into financing startups. According to the ruling coalition’s decisions, pension contributions are to be increased by two percentage points in the future and the money is then to be invested in funds. “It would be a sensible step to also invest in VC, i.e. venture capital,” said Reiche when presenting the federal government’s startup strategy.
