In short: Quick access to app updates +++ Downgrade to iOS 26.4 no longer possible | News

When Apple makes changes to the App Store, some users don’t even notice it: Apps are usually updated automatically and new installations are rare for many users because they have already downloaded all the apps that are important to them. However, many people like to take a look at the list of upcoming app updates: On the one hand, these provide information about the changes in the new versions of the apps, but on the other hand, the automatic updates do not always take place in a timely manner – if this function is activated at all.

iOS 26.4 changed the App Store user interface a little and sometimes causes irritation: Previously, it was enough to tap the profile picture to open the list of app updates. Now users also have to use the menu item of the same name. But there is an alternative, which has been available since the iPhone 6S (and back then 3D Touch): To do this, users tap on the App Store icon and hold it down for a while. A context menu then opens:

You can use this to select “Updates” to go directly to the corresponding page in the App Store.

Apple blocks downgrade to iOS 26.4
iOS 26.4 not only brought the above-mentioned user interface changes, but also brought with it a variety of new features. However, the update also caused an annoying bug: content was not always synchronized via iCloud, so some devices with the same Apple account were not up to date. Apple responded around two weeks later with iOS 26.4.1, thereby fixing this annoying error.

From now on, a return to iOS 26.4 is no longer possible: Apple will stop signing this system version. However, since iOS 26.4.1 is simply an improvement in the vast majority of cases, this step by Apple is unlikely to cause any displeasure.
