The initiative promotes authentic storytelling, supports local businesses, and showcases Guam’s diverse tourism attractions.
TUMON, Guam — The Guam Visitors Bureau (GVB) is inviting residents and international visitors to experience the island in a new way through the launch of the Guam Photo Huntan interactive destination-wide campaign that combines travel, social media, local business support, and experiential tourism.
Running through September 30, 2026the campaign transforms Guam into a living treasure hunt, encouraging participants to discover more than 100 locations across the island while sharing authentic travel experiences on Instagram. The initiative reflects the growing importance of user-generated content in destination marketing, where travelers increasingly rely on real experiences rather than traditional advertising when choosing where to visit.
The Guam Photo Hunt highlights scenic viewpoints, cultural and historical landmarks, village attractions, local restaurants, beaches, parks, and hidden gems, inviting participants to explore beyond the island’s most familiar destinations.
Registration is free through visitguam.com/photohunt. Participants receive access to an interactive digital map identifying featured locations throughout Guam. To complete each stop, visitors simply travel to the location, capture a photo of the designated site or featured attraction, and post it on Instagram with #guamphotohunt2026 and tag @visitguamusa.
Every eligible post moves participants get closer to prizes throughout the summer.
For Guam residents, each qualifying submission also serves as an entry into weekly prize drawings sponsored by local businesses and community partners. Participants may win one weekly prize each month, with a maximum of three during the campaign.
Explorers completing 25 Photo Hunt locations qualify for the grand prize drawing, while those reaching 30 locations earn an additional grand prize entry.
The campaign offers two signature travel prizes: one Guam resident will win a round-trip airline ticket to Taiwan, while one participating international visitor will receive a round-trip ticket to Guam, encouraging repeat visitation and strengthening regional tourism ties.
“The Guam Photo Hunt is an invitation to our community to see Guam with fresh eyes and rediscover the places, people, and experiences that make our island special,” said Régine Biscoe Lee, President and CEO of the Guam Visitors Bureau.
“GVB is committed to creating experiences that strengthen local pride while showcasing the best of our island to the world. Through this campaign, we encourage our community to explore new places, support local businesses, and share their unique stories about what makes Guam home.”
According to Nadine Leon Guerrero, GVB’s Director of Global Marketingtoday’s travelers are inspired by authentic content created by fellow travelers rather than carefully produced marketing campaigns.
“Today’s travelers discover destinations through authentic experiences, shareable moments, and recommendations from real people,” Leon Guerrero said. “The Guam Photo Hunt taps into those behaviors by encouraging participants to create and share their own content while exploring the island. Every photo posted helps build a growing collection of authentic Guam stories that can inspire future visitors and foster greater appreciation for the destinations and businesses within our community.”
Beyond visitor engagement, the initiative also provides valuable exposure for Guam’s tourism industry. GVB member businesses and community organizations participating as official Photo Hunt Pin Locations will be featured on the campaign’s interactive map, complete with operating hours, directions, destination information, and participant-generated photography. The program creates an ongoing digital showcase for attractions and businesses while encouraging visitors to explore multiple villages and spend more time discovering the island.
