There is currently a lot of movement in the iPhone division. Last fall, a new housing design (17 series) and the new iPhone Air version were released. At this year’s iPhone event, however, a completely new form factor is to be introduced with the iPhone Fold/Ultra, namely a book-like foldable. Another report now deals with the “radical redesign that Apple is supposedly planning for autumn 2027 – around 20 years after the introduction of the first iPhone. As it has been said several times, we will then finally be able to implement pipe dreams from the time when the original iPhone was developed. There are the first prototypes of the iPhone 19 Pro with a “Quad Curved” display
According to Weibo leaker Digital Chat Station, Apple is currently testing prototypes of the iPhone 19 Pro with a display that wraps around all four edges of the case. Such reports are not new, but Apple now seems to have manufactured the first functional devices. It also remained uncertain whether Apple would position such a device as a regular Pro model, as a Pro Max or as a separate Ultra or anniversary variant. According to Digital Chat Station, it is almost certainly a Pro model. When we talk about a “Quad Curved” display, that probably doesn’t describe surfaces over the edges like on some Android devices – but rather a strongly curved panel, which gives the impression that there are no corners anymore due to the bend.
What happens to the front camera?
At the same time, the leaker comments on a rumor that can be described as a long-running favorite in the rumor mill, namely the camera located behind the display including TrueDepth sensors for Face ID. This step in particular is considered difficult because “under display” cameras often suffer from poorer image/sensor quality because the light falls through the display structure. Apple’s goal is to implement an uninterrupted design, which also includes hiding the cameras – but here there are still technical hurdles and unclear chances of success.
