When the founders of Pixel Photonics launched their deep tech startup five years ago, they weren’t thinking about national defense. Today, their technology could play a role in exactly this: The startup from Münster is developing highly sensitive light detectors that can be used in a variety of ways – including for applications that are intended to make Europe safer.
The company has now completed a financing round of 13.5 million euros. On board: the EU Commission. Founder Nicolai Walter explains in an interview with Gründerszene how the Münster startup managed to convince the commission.
The startup announces that the capital comes from a seed round led by the venture capitalists Futury Capital, HTGF and Kensho Ventures as well as the Federal Agency for Jump Innovation (SPRIND). On the other hand, part of the financing comes from the EU Commission’s EIC Accelerator – one of the toughest innovation programs in Europe. The startup Gründerszene is making the pitch deck that convinced the commission available exclusively.
