Dummy of the iPhone Ultra supposedly shows “real case color” | News

The normal iPhone models have been quite colorful for years, but Apple usually avoids bright colors in the Pro versions – although the orange iPhone 17 Pro is a clear exception. Apple reportedly wants to be even more cautious with the foldable iPhone Ultra, as has already been heard from various sources. A few weeks ago, for example, Mark Gurman reported that Apple might only want to offer two variants, in the colors of previous iPhones: black/dark gray and white. So far, only white has been confirmed as an option; no decision has been made as to other versions.

According to the leaker Instant Digital, white is also the only largely safe color for the iPhone Ultra. These statements are now supported by another well-known source, as Ice Universe posted a shot of the white model on Weibo. He was able to get hold of an “iPhone Fold / iPhone Ultra White Edition” model, or more precisely a photo of it. This is intended to show the exact design with a white housing, although it is most likely a dummy and not a functional device.

Less colors, less complexity
Such a limited color selection with only two variants would not be surprising for a product like this. The first foldable iPhone is likely to be one of the most expensive and difficult to produce iPhones that Apple has ever brought to market. Each additional version increases the complexity of housing, warehousing, quality control and production planning – especially since hardly anyone assumes that the first generation, with prices of more than 2000 dollars, will already appeal to the mass market and achieve similar volumes as the basic version or the Pro series. In addition, a large color palette is probably less important for the target group of the luxurious device class than for cheaper models.
