Apple’s laptop range has never been as colorful as the MacBook Neo: four different pastel shades are available for the affordable device. Everything fits together: the back of the display, top and bottom, rubber feet and keyboard are color coordinated. If that seems too monotonous, you can make an adjustment and order replacement parts in other colors from Apple, reports Macworld. For in-house repairs, Apple operates its own web portal called Selfservicerepair.eu. Here you will find repair manuals as well as an option to order spare parts and special tools. A large number of spare parts are already listed for the MacBook Neo, in addition to functional elements such as the display or USB-C boards as well as housing parts – at fairly reasonable prices. A new lower case costs around 39 euros, the trackpad costs 89.14 euros. Anyone who returns the original input device will receive a credit of around 20 euros.
Accentuate keyboard
To order, you only need to provide two proofs: reading the repair manual by entering the manual ID at the end (currently ZFXBHN) and owning a MacBook Neo (using the serial number). The keyboard element can also be ordered new; it costs just under 160 euros – although in this case it is recommended to also order the keyboard shield to be glued on for 17 euros (under “other parts”). This is still significantly cheaper than the current MacBook Air: the entire top case has to be replaced – cost: 499.56 euros. Even cheaper (and easier to replace) is a new set of buttons. For around 45 euros, customers can get all the caps for a keyboard.

The order page for spare parts currently has to do without images. The first four entries in the “Keys” category only offer six languages, German is not included. Most EU citizens will be satisfied if they choose one of the entries titled “Keycap Kit, ISO, Super” below. You cannot select a language here. But that is also the intention, as the “Important Information” reveals when the mouse pointer hovers over it: This spare parts set combines the complete British ISO layout plus all alternative keys for many EU languages. These are also available in indigo, pink, silver and citrus.
