ChatGPT in the future with advertising, Go subscription available everywhere | News

In December of last year, OpenAI pulled the ripcord: Concerned about losing market share and having invested billions of US dollars in less profitable projects, the company internally announced the “red alert” and postponed certain projects – including the introduction of advertising (see here). ChatGPT users now have two new features: on the one hand, there is an additional subscription at a comparatively low price, and on the other hand, advertising will probably be included in conversations with the chatbot in the future.

ChatGPT Go now available everywhere
ChatGPT Go is a subscription that was initially launched in India and has since been available in 170 other countries. Users of this plan get expanded access to GPT-5.2 and can write more messages, upload and create images. The chatbot can also remember longer conversations. ChatGPT Go is now available in all countries where ChatGPT is available. ChatGPT Go costs 8 euros per month in this country, 23 euros per month for the Plus subscription and 229 euros per month for the Pro level.

Ads in conversations
In October 2024, Sam Altman was visibly averse to advertising during a conversation at Harvard Business School: Personally, he hates advertising. Mixing AI and advertising is particularly “disturbing.” For OpenAI, this option represents the very last resort for the business model. OpenAI appears to have come to the conclusion that it has to take such measures: the company is now announcing the introduction of advertising. The first tests are to begin in the USA. This makes AI more accessible.

OpenAI promises that ads will not influence the chatbot’s responses and data will not be sold to advertisers. The personalization of advertising can be deactivated. During the test phase, there will be no ads for minors or for conversations that focus on politics or physical or mental health. OpenAI wants to collect feedback from users and “refine” the display of advertising accordingly. No ads are used in Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise subscriptions.
