It’s that time again and a new season of the Netflix series Bridgerton is the Talk of the Tone! I really enjoy watching the series and have written down some of the details that I like about it or that I discovered through it. A very important point in any case: the incredible clothes! Since we are not all such a wonderful one Modiste To be able to visit like the ladies of high society, I picked out and put together a few Bridgerton Plus Size styles inspired by the series from the online shops.
What is Bridgerton actually about?
We find ourselves in the middle of the Regency era (the series begins in 1813) in high society London. The Bridgerton family has eight children (sorted practically alphabetically): Anthony, Benedict, Colin, Daphne, Eloise, Francesca, Gregory and Hyacinth, as well as their widowed mother Violet as the head of the family. Each season focuses on the love story of one of the Bridgerton siblings. Everything is told by Lady Whistledown, an anonymous author who writes about the gossip of the… “Clay” writes.
What is Bridgerton Style?
The style in Bridgerton isn’t entirely historically accurate – but who cares? There are definitely Regency-era influences to be seen: high waists and great embellishments; Women wear long dresses and matching coats or jackets, while men wear suits with vests and hats. The family color is Bridgerton blue, which appears again and again. A few of the costumes I can’t get out of my head: Penelope’s white nightgown – so simple and just beautiful! Francesca once wore a transparent, voluminous top that I thought was really chic. And Violet’s costume at the masquerade ball is a really great dress in purple and a perfectly draped cape made of tulle that falls very easily.

Nicola Coughlan ♥
Up until now I mainly knew Nicola Coughlan from red carpet photos and really celebrated her style. Sometime in the winter of 2024 we finally watched ‘Derry Girls’ – an incredibly funny series about the lives of 5 teenagers during the Northern Ireland conflicts. Also really well cast, with lots of great characters… and Nicola as Clare was outstanding.
In fact, I started watching Bridgerton mainly because of Nicola Coughlan as Penelope Featherington. I was already looking forward to every scene with her in the first two seasons and was of course particularly excited when it was announced that she would now be able to portray one of the central main characters in season 3.
I’m just a fan! Nicola Coughlan is a great actress, I really enjoy watching and listening to her and I think she just seems so likeable.

I love love! I just like love stories and happy endings and especially romantic confessions of love.
friends to lovers
There are certain TV tropes – recurring narrative patterns in a series or other fictional work. Fake dating is one of them (hello season 1!), almost kisses that are then interrupted, or forced proximity, for example when the characters are snowed in somewhere together…
An overarching narrative arc that I always really like is definitely “Friends to Lovers”: When friendship turns into love… After all, I live it myself 😉
I think real friendship is simply a good basis. I also really appreciate the motif in books, films and series. We know both people well individually; they have a common history and have often been through some challenges together. Nevertheless, I don’t think the romantic tension is neglected!
… how great a press tour can actually be
If I’m excited about a series or film, I like to watch interviews about it. The press tour for Bridgerton Season 3 has a lot of highlights and Nicola Coughlan in particular shines so much. I often laughed to tears – and discovered some details that I would have missed otherwise.
‘Bridgerton’ Cast Test How Well They Know Each Other & Compliment Battle are probably the funniest videos and always really put me in a good mood. I also find the behind the scenes insights from Shondaland really exciting… it makes it clear what a huge production it actually is. I particularly absorbed everything about the costumes and how much attention to detail they put into making them. Bridgerton Cast Reacts to Season 3 Part 1 & Part 2 is also great and emotional
