Apple TV: “Where’s Wanda” with Heike Makatsch and Axel Stein continues +++ Trailer for comedy “Mayday” | News

Initially, the focus of the content produced for Apple TV was clearly on the United States and Great Britain. In recent years, however, the Californian company’s streaming service has made increased efforts to include not only international locations, but also production companies. With “Where’s Wanda?” Apple has a series in its program that was originally produced in German. Now Apple has announced that the second season will debut on October 21st.

The first season of the UFA production with Axel Stein (Hard Boys, 7 Dwarves) and Heike Makatsch (Resident Evil, Tatort, Dr. House) in the lead roles was very well received by TV critics. On the review aggregator “Rotten Tomatoes”, the first season achieved a critic score (Tomatometer) of 100 percent (audience: 68%). While in the first season “Where’s Wanda?” The protagonist’s eponymous daughter disappeared, and in the sequel she is suspected of murder. The final episode of the second season will be released on December 9, 2026.

“Mayday” from September 4th
In addition to series, Apple TV also produces some films, which are available to paying Apple TV subscribers. A new action comedy called “Mayday” will be released on September 4th. It transports the audience to the Cold War era. Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) plays the fighter jet pilot “Assassin” who is shot down over Russian territory. A former KGB agent, played by Kenneth Branagh (Tenet, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets), discovers him, saves his life – and helps him escape. The trailer gives a foretaste of the latest directorial work from John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein (D&D: Honor Among Thieves).

Film and series releases in the next few weeks
This week, Apple began the weekly streaming release of the new series “Lucky”. The pickleball comedy “The Dink” starts streaming on July 24th. A week later, a new film from the Peanuts universe follows: Snoopy presents: Home is the best place. The fourth season of the hit series “Ted Lasso” is scheduled to begin in the first week of August. Then it continues with “Women in Blue”, “Stilles Wasser” and “Dark Matter” (see table for links).
