Apple comments on alleged Siri delay | News

Almost two years after the official announcement, the time will soon come: Apple wants to bring the newly developed Siri generation onto the market. Until now, 26.4 was considered the system with which the introduction should take place. After 26.3 has been available since this week, the next beta phase is expected to start in the next few days – including the first glimpse of Siri 2. If you believe the recently published Bloomberg report, there were further delays. Accordingly, Apple is behind its self-imposed schedule and can only show the first features with 26.5 – and even has to postpone some things to iOS 27. This is a bit surprising since the required technology is provided in the background by Google and Apple only has to work on the integration instead of doing everything itself.

Apple emphasizes to CNBC that it is on schedule
CNBC now says it has received a statement from Apple. So the answer was that they were still on track to show the new Siri generation “this year”. At least an even more significant delay is currently being ruled out – although iOS 27 would still fall within the time frame. The reaction therefore does not constitute a denial of the Bloomberg report.

However, it must be mentioned here that Apple never publicly communicated 26.4 as a target system. Said information arose from vague hints from Apple managers or leaks and several insider statements, whereas Apple always spoke of “next year” or, since January, of “this year”. The latest reports were received with concern on the stock market, as the share price fell by 5 percent – Apple’s worst trading day in a year.

iOS 27 with the next innovations
According to Bloomberg, Siri has two important steps to take. First, the Gemini-based Siri version will be released, then Apple wants to replace the previous interface with a chatbot-like design. The latter is fed directly from Google servers, whereas Gemini-Siri uses Apple’s private cloud compute. If Siri 2 really only appears with iOS 26.5, the time until the next far-reaching change would be very short.
