Nutracorp, the protein producer behind More Nutrition and ESN, has to approve a works council after several legal proceedings.
The works council is flexing its muscles: As of this month, the protein manufacturer Nutracorp has had to approve a works council. The Elmshorn court in Schleswig-Holstein has now finally confirmed this, as NRD reports.
Nutracorp is the producer behind the protein products of the Quality Group, which includes More Nutrition and ESN. Christian Wolf, founder of More Nutrition, sold large shares of his company to the private equity firm CVC Capital Partners in May 2022.

Dispute over works council escalates
The Elmshorn labor court would have appointed an electoral board at Nutracorp as early as the summer of 2023 – thereby actually clearing the way for the election. But the company fought back: Nutracorp went through several instances to the Federal Labor Court.
Even shortly before the election at the end of June 2026, Nutracorp still tried to legally stop the vote. Several urgent applications were made, but all were rejected, as NDR reports.

The company speaks of “pure legal clarification”
In response to an NDR request, the Quality Group now stated that it expressly recognizes “employees’ legally enshrined right to co-determination” and the judgment. The numerous court proceedings served exclusively to clarify open legal questions.
In the future, the company wants to work “constructively” with the newly elected works council.
