INVESTMENTS
Quantum Systems
+++ Blackstone, Noteus, Airbus, Advent, BOND, Fidelity Management & Research Company, Wellington Management, AP Moller Holding, Elephant Lake Ventures Balderton and HV Capital are investing $1.2 billion in Quantum Systems. The defense tech’s valuation rises to around 8 billion US dollars (most recently around 3 billion euros). “The funds from the financing round will be used to expand production capacities, secure supply chains, scale the delivery infrastructure in allied markets and further develop software and AI,” says a press release. The English investor Balderton Capital and Co. recently invested 180 million euros in the company as part of a Series C expansion round. Quantum-Systems, founded in 2015 by Florian Seibel, Michael Kriegel, Tobias Kloss and Armin Busse, relies on unmanned aerial drones for military and civil purposes – including a software platform. Squer
+++ The Berlin investment company Sophora Unternehmer Kapital is investing a “mid eight-figure” sum in Squer – see incubator. The Viennese company, founded in 2019 by Manuel Klein, Matthias Kreuzriegler, David Leitner and Lukasz Juszczyk, positions itself as a “partner for software modernization and digital transformation”. More than 100 employees currently work for Squer. In 2023, the Viennese company expanded to Munich. Most recently, Squer took over the Munich-based AI startup Unit 214. More about Squer
MERGERS & ACQUISITIONS
Livekindly Collective – Greenforce
+++ The New York veggie company Livekindly Collective is taking over the Munich-based meat substitute startup Greenforce, which was founded in 2020 – see Grocery Newspaper. The Munich food company, founded by Thomas Isermann, has raised a double-digit million sum in the young company in recent years. The donors also included soccer world champion Thomas Müller, presenter Joko Winterscheidt and delicatessen maker Michael Käfer. Recently, the financing situation at Greenforce was tense. A merger with competitor Livekindly was discussed months ago, but then stalled. More about Greenforce
