Hello my love,
Walk in and welcome to our country estate aka Laube. Summer is finally over and I’m hoping for a golden October. Our country estate is undisputedly my favorite place where I can relax next to the sewing machine. As soon as I opened the door with a loud clatter, I noticed this relaxation and serenity. You always have a bit of a feeling of being in the country, even though you’re actually in the middle of the city. Therein lies a bit of the magic. I also like that everything is so small, rustic and somehow so cozy. I used to never really understand flower lovers. Why freak out so much over a flower pot? Since we got our country home, I’ve been crazy about flowers and greenery. I often watch the perennials grow from my beach chair in amazement and admire the splendor of the colors of the hollyhocks in the backyard. I love the smell after a summer rain when everything smells so fresh of greens. For me it is better than any perfume. Even Chanel No.5 can’t keep up. Time somehow stands still in this place and everything moves forward in an idleness (which we so often forget in everyday life). Even the spartan washing of the dishes in a bowl is somehow a joy when I relax and look at the large sunflowers from which the bees drink their nectar. Since then, my wealth of ideas has been almost unstoppable… The hardware store is now my new shopping temple. If I continue like this, the branch manager there will soon roll out the red carpet for me. I have never been as happy about a garden fence in my life as I was this summer. A fence that, with little money, but a little effort and time, looks much nicer than its outdated predecessor. Oh… how do I tell my husband? Ok, darling: There are already a lot of new projects in my head for next year. The continuation of our garden fence, a birdhouse, a playhouse for our little mouse…and…and…and…If you love something like we love our country estate, it will probably remain a permanent project. Looking back, we didn’t celebrate enough festivals this year due to the not-so-constant summer. This will certainly be made up for next summer. 😉 But it felt like we had a lot more spontaneous visits for coffee and cake with great conversations. Which I also found almost as beautiful. Would you still like a before and after post from the arbor? Do you also have an allotment or are you looking for a suitable garden? I would be happy about an “allotment gardener exchange”.
