MacOS 27 Golden Gate is actually considered an upgrade that primarily aims to improve the system. Faster, more stable and easier to read thanks to optimizations to Liquid Glass. The new features, on the other hand, seem manageable. The focus is undoubtedly on the expansion of Apple Intelligence and its deeper integration into the system. The result – as presented at WWDC in June – is Siri AI. For the first time, it should be possible to individually adjust the voice of the voice assistant, depending on your personal preferences. A video provided by a member of the MacRumors forum demonstrates how this could work. The video shows a custom menu where the mouse can be moved freely: “Voice Pad,” as MacRumors calls it. Depending on where you move the mouse, characteristics of the voice that can be heard at the same time change. The voice varies in pitch, age, gender and tone, all depending on the mouse’s location. At the same time, the background color changes with the change, similar to the display of a HomePod.
Hidden deep in the beta version
If you want to try out the new feature yourself, you should know what you’re doing, as activating it is not trivial and requires disabling System Integrity Protection. This function protects the system from changes, which is why it is generally not recommended to deactivate it. In addition, code must be overwritten to reveal the individual voice setting. Anyone who makes a mistake can cause major damage to their system.
Supported languages remain unclear for the time being
According to the report, the interface is designed for 44 languages. It is not yet known whether all of these can already be used. Siri AI is currently only offered in English, even in the beta versions of the supported systems. It would at least be obvious that the individual setting of Siri’s voice currently only works in this language, regardless of whether the menu already offers more comprehensive support.
