The developer versions seven days ago had already indicated that not much time would pass before the general release. With the exception of iOS and iPadOS 26.6, the build numbers already ended in “c”, which for .x updates corresponds to the status shortly before the last beta or the first release candidates. This evening there will now be more supplies for participants in the developer program, as Apple is calling for another round of tests – the fifth since Beta 1 at the end of May. For System 26, the cycle is slowly coming to an end; Apple’s software department has long been concentrating primarily on the next major release with version number 27. However, it cannot currently be said whether there will be a 26.7 after 26.6 or just security updates. However, new features are hardly to be expected.
26.6 with detailed adjustments
Even after several betas, only two adjustments were revealed. There is a warning if users have blocked more than 20,000 numbers/contacts. This can happen when apps create block lists against spam numbers – such databases often contain well over 10,000 entries. As already mentioned in the last reports: It’s not the limit that’s new, just the error message. Apple also implemented a new security process for Apple Maps that screens incoming requests before processing them. This probably serves to provide better protection against injected character strings, which can cause unwanted problems. Apart from that, Apple no longer devoted itself to any notable innovations.
The current betas
This is what it currently looks like in the developer area after the latest updates to the builds offered. As is well known, you can see the current status at the last digit of the build number – the lower the letter, the closer the update is. If the said ending is omitted completely, it is the release candidate or a final version.
