Guam’s Tumon Night Market returns on July 12 after a weather-related cancellation, offering travelers a vibrant cultural experience beyond the island’s beaches. Featuring CHamoru cuisine, artisan vendors, live entertainment, and local hospitality, the weekly event is becoming one of Guam’s must-visit attractions for visitors seeking authentic island experiences.
TUMON, Guam — Travelers looking to experience more than Guam’s turquoise waters and white-sand beaches will soon have another opportunity to discover the island’s vibrant culture as well Tumon Night Market returns on Sunday, July 12after last weekend’s event was canceled due to Super Typhoon Bavi.
The weekly market, organized by the Guam Visitors Bureau (GVB), has quickly become one of Guam’s signature evening experiences, transforming the heart of Tumon into a lively gathering filled with local flavors, handcrafted products, live entertainment, and cultural experiences. The July 5 event was postponed to prioritize the safety of residents, visitors, vendors, and performers as the island prepared for severe weather.
“We appreciate the understanding and support of our community, visitors, vendors, and performers as we prioritized everyone’s safety during Super Typhoon Bavi,” said GVB President and CEO Regina Biscoe Lee. “We’re excited to welcome everyone back this Sunday for another evening of great food, local shopping, live entertainment, and the warm hospitality that makes Guam so special.”
For many international visitors, Guam is best known for its idyllic beaches and year-round tropical climate. However, the Tumon Night Market offers a different side of the island—one where travelers can connect with Guam’s people, traditions, and contemporary island lifestyle.
Visitors can sample authentic Chamoru cuisine alongside international street food, browse artisan stalls featuring locally made crafts and souvenirs, enjoy performances by local musicians and cultural groups, and interact with small-business owners who showcase the island’s creativity and entrepreneurial spirit. The event reflects the Chamoru value of inafa’maolek—a spirit of community, mutual support, and togetherness—which has become a defining element of the market experience.
Beyond providing a memorable evening for tourists, the market plays an important role in supporting Guam’s local economy by creating opportunities for small businesses, food vendors, artists, and performers. Since its launch, the weekly event has become a popular gathering place for both residents and visitors, helping strengthen Guam’s cultural tourism offerings beyond traditional beach activities.
