Seychelles Welcomes UN Tourism Secretary-General and African Leaders for 69th CAF Meeting

Seychelles has welcomed the UN Tourism delegation led by Secretary-General HE Shaikha Al Nuwais and representatives from across Africa ahead of the 69th UN Tourism Regional Commission for Africa (CAF) Meeting. The gathering will focus on sustainable tourism, human capital development, and strengthening regional cooperation across Africa.

Victoria, Seychelles – Seychelles has rolled out the red carpet for the arrival of the United Nations Tourism delegation, led by the Secretary-General of UN Tourism, HE Shaikha Al Nuwaisalong with high-level delegates from across Africa, ahead of the prestigious 69th Meeting of the UN Tourism Regional Commission for Africa (CAF).

The international delegation was warmly welcomed at Pointe Larue International Airport by representatives from the Seychelles Tourism Board and key tourism partners, offering visitors a taste of the renowned Seychellois hospitality that has made the island nation a sought-after global destination.

Taking place on the main island of Mahe from 2nd to 4th Junethe 69th CAF Meeting will convene Ministers responsible for Tourism, senior government officials, tourism experts, and industry leaders from across the continent. The event will also feature a high level Thematic Conference on Strengthening Human Capital to Boost Africa’s Tourism Growthfocusing on developing the skilled workforce needed to drive the sector’s long-term success.

Welcoming the UN Tourism Secretary-General, the Minister for Tourism and Culture, Mrs. Amanda Bernsteinhighlighted the significance of the gathering for both Seychelles and Africa’s tourism industry.

“We are delighted to welcome the UN Tourism delegation and our colleagues from across Africa to Seychelles. It is a privilege for our island nation to host the 69th CAF Meeting and provide a platform for meaningful discussions that will help shape the future of tourism across the continent,” Minister Bernstein said.

As one of Africa’s premier tourism events, the meeting is expected to strengthen cooperation among Member States while advancing a shared vision for a more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable tourism sector across the continent.
