In short: GoPro is facing bankruptcy +++ Amazon Prime Day 2026 announced | News

The manufacturer GoPro is almost emblematic of the action camera product category. For a long time, anyone who wanted to take spectacular photos while skiing, surfing, mountain biking or motorcycling almost naturally resorted to a GoPro. However, dark clouds have gathered for the company; according to the company, it is on the verge of insolvency. An official financial statement raises considerable doubts as to whether GoPro can continue to exist as a company. Discussions are currently underway to defer loans, sell assets or company shares or look for possible merger partners.

The sharp rise in storage prices due to the AI boom is considered to be a major burden. GoPro points to cost increases of up to 115 percent, which can no longer be absorbed or offset. However, that is only half the truth, because the market development affects an already struggling company. The decline in sales of around a quarter can be attributed to more competition and generally less demand for action cameras. Smartphones are simply sufficient for many areas, and the once successful sector must therefore deal with structural problems.

Amazon Prime Day(s) 2026 announced
Amazon’s Prime Day is something of a shopping holiday for many, although the company has now launched numerous other events of this kind. Nevertheless, the July event is always seen as the most important way to convince customers of purchases and Prime subscriptions through discounts. At least one thing is different this time: Amazon did not choose July, but June 23rd to 26th.

This means that the four shopping days fall during the World Cup, but do not collide with the final games of the tournament or the celebrations for the 250th anniversary of US independence, as officials say. Amazon has already launched a special page for Prime Day 2026, but of course the specific special offers cannot be seen yet.
