Updates for many Apple apps: New features for Logic Pro, Photomator and Pixelmator Pro, bug fixes for iWork and others | News

Apple released an update for macOS yesterday evening that addresses some bugs. At the same time, updates to in-house apps are also available: These primarily affect the applications from the Creator Studio, which was introduced in January this year. Anyone who fears that Cupertino will now only care about the apps that belong to the suite is wrong: In fact, the conventional versions of the software also receive corresponding updates – with the exception of a few programs.

Updates for several Apple apps
Yesterday Apple released a whole series of updates for important apps. What they all have in common is that they address “stability improvements and bug fixes”. This applies to Motion, Compressor, MainStage as well as the iWork applications Pages, Numbers and Keynote. The iOS and iPadOS variants of the three Office apps also received updates. However, anyone who uses the old versions of the software on the Mac will have to do without the bug fixes: Apple only serves the new iWork offshoots, which can be recognized by the modernized icons.

Exceptions confirm the rule: Freeform comes away empty-handed because it is a pre-installed app that only changes version with iOS, iPadOS or macOS updates. Apple is taking care of this with Final Cut Camera for the iPhone: In addition to the bug fixes mentioned, the update primarily brings an icon adapted to the Creator Studio.

Logic Pro: Apple serves both versions of the app
Logic Pro gets new features: 3D audio mixes can now be exported “as a file with a small storage requirement,” which acts as a sample for the stream on Apple Music. The company is also adding the “Step Reflex” package to the macOS and iPadOS app: It promises effects based on the sound of the garage genre as well as “rave-ready synths”. Version 3.2 on the iPad is required for this. On the Mac, users have the choice: Both offshoots of Logic Pro can enjoy version 12.2 with the features listed above.

Pixelmator Pro: More new features for Creator Studio app
Photomator can now handle compressed RAW images from other camera models. This also applies to Pixelmator Pro. The software also includes additional templates and mockups. However, Apple differentiates between version 3.8 for the old standalone application and version 4.2 for the offshoot of the Creator Studio: the latter gains a few more functions, including the ability to change the opacity of layers using the number keys.
