HealthTech continues to be one of the hottest segments in the German startup scene. The many (young and older) health startups that we have recently noticed include Circle Health, Ficus, Gardia, hellomed, Mirantus Health and Recare.

Digital health topics (e-health or healthtech) have been a big topic in Germany for several years. HealthTech is therefore one of the segments that many investors continue to look at closely – this applies to B2C, but also to B2B.

The many (young and older) health startups that have particularly caught our attention in recent weeks and months include Circle Health, Ficus and Gardia. There was also another exciting exit in the segment with the sale of the Munich health startup Kaia Health to Sword Health (purchase price: $285 million).

Circle Health
The Berlin HealthTech Circle Health, founded in 2023 by Peter Malmqvist and Jannik Tiedemann, would like to establish itself as a “practice for functional medicine & prevention”. The Berlin investor Atlantic, CRB Health Tech (Madrid), Calm/Storm Ventures (Vienna) and Kfund (Madrid) recently invested 9 million euros (equity and debt capital) in the young company. Ficus
The HealthTech Ficus from Berlin, founded in 2024 by Caspar Health founder Benjamin Pochhammer and Mario Elstner, plans to establish itself as an “AI platform for rehabilitation”. The startup’s software, which emerged from Merantix’s Venture Studio, “automates central processes, reduces administrative effort and creates more time for patient care,” says the team. The Berlin early-stage investor Redstone, Merantix Capital and business angels recently invested 3 million euros in the young company. More about Ficus

Guardia
The HealthTech Gardia (formerly known as caera) from Soest, founded as caera by Marlon Visit and Michael Hummels in 2019, is developing a mobile emergency call system “that is specifically tailored to the needs of seniors”. The Dutch investor Peak, amberra, butterfly & elephant, the GS1 Germany accelerator, as well as existing investors such as BonVenture, Dieter von Holtzbrinck Ventures (DvH Ventures) and Beurer recently invested 8.5 million euros in the company. hellomed
The Berlin HealthTech hellomed, founded in 2022 by Enrico Bernardo, Felix Morawski and Tim Bogdan, is developing hellomedOS, a software solution for “quality-assured medication supply” in outpatient and inpatient care. The aim is particularly to “relieve the burden on nursing staff”. The Swiss investor EquityPitcher Ventures, the Berlin financier IBB Ventures and zwei.7 as well as business angels recently invested 6 million euros in the company. More about hellomed

Mirantus Health
At Berlin HealthTech Mirantus Healthfounded in 2022 by Dominik Pederzani and Claus Gruber, is all about eye health. “We help opticians carry out eye checks and evaluate the results professionally,” says founder Pederzani. Revent, Redstone, Entrepreneur First, Noaber, Arve Capital as well as the telemedicine pioneers Kai Eberhardt (Oviva) and Katharina Jünger (TeleClinic) recently invested 5.5 million euros in the company.

Oviva
The Zurich-based healthtech company Oviva, founded in 2014 by Kai Eberhardt, Manuel Baumann and Mark Jenkins, focuses on “reimbursable digital healthcare”. The current focus is on diseases such as obesity and high blood pressure. Kinnevik, Planet First Partners, AP Moller Holding, Lunate and Co. recently invested 200 million euros (primary and secondary investment) in the company. Recare
The company Recare, founded in Berlin in 2017 by Maximilian Greschke, uses AI to support medical facilities “in automating administrative tasks and controlling work processes across different systems”. The insurance and risk management provider DNV, CIBC Innovation Banking and other investors recently invested 37 million euros (including an option of 7 million) in the company. More about Recare
