10 quick tips to beat the heat

The first big heat wave of the year will start in a few days, and on this occasion we would like to share with you again – with a few small updates – a detailed and, above all, timeless article from 2019 by dear Carina. With lots of good tips on how you can better deal with temperatures above 30°C in everyday life.

From Carina

Hello #TeamSummer-Supporters, great days are waiting for you! Lots of sun, bright blue skies and temperatures over 30 degrees Celsius – that’s the promising weather forecast. Unfortunately, the unpleasant side effects of a heat wave can cause problems for even passionate sun worshipers. So it’s high time for that 10 quick tips to beat the heat!

Hot days over 30 degrees? These tricks will help you get through the heat wave better

1. No summer without thermal water spray! At least that’s what happens to Sarah and me. It cools you down in seconds and – in its mini format – it also fits in your favorite summer handbag. By the way: The fine spray mist is also a relief for sunburn! If you want to save on packaging, we recommend this environmentally friendly alternative: get an atomizer from the drugstore and use it, for example. B. fill evian. Just as refreshing, even if the spray mist isn’t quite as fine.

2. Our legs also suffer on hot days because the heat causes painful vein problems for many of us. Special leg and vein sprays, for example from Susanne Kaufmann, provide immediate help. Not only does it refresh you in no time and perk up tired legs, thanks to horse chestnut extract it also strengthens venous return and prevents water retention.

A little gymnastics supports the effect: simply put your feet on your toes and move them up and down. Very easy and can be carried out under any desk!

3. There are people who can’t do without their sneakers even in the hottest weather (um, gotcha…). In order to increase wearing comfort, the “underneath” must be suitable for the weather. I recently discovered, ordered and enthusiastically wore the “Cool Kick” socks from Falke. What defines them? The moisture-repellent material including airy mesh inserts! And while we’re on the subject of what’s underneath: functional underwear is also allowed in the summer – secretly! – can be worn under a summer dress. Overheating is impossible!

4. Speaking of summer dresses: whether it’s a mini, midi or maxi dress, the material matters! For me, at the top of the list of the best summer materials is linen. It is comfortable to wear on the skin, is permeable to air and has a heat-regulating effect. It is also recommended to switch to linen bed linen in the summer – it feels pleasantly cool and promotes a restful sleep. Thanks to a sky blue or heavenly bed linen gift for the wedding, I speak from experience here…

5. Heat free! That’s what every one of us would wish for at the moment. Unfortunately, things are often different in everyday working life and you think back wistfully to your school days in a hot office (air conditioning broken or even non-existent – who knows that?!). So why not surprise your fellow colleagues with an ice cream? Simply set an appointment (subject: team meeting with compulsory attendance), get ice cream during your lunch break and make sure your faces are smiling. Increased motivation guaranteed! And good for karma anyway.

6. After a hot day at the office followed by a visit to the beer garden, you are particularly happy to come home. But not when there are tropical temperatures in your own four walls. In addition to airing (only!!) in the early morning and late evening, damp cotton towels ensure more freshness in the rooms. Simply hold it under water, wring it out well and hang it up in the apartment. By the way, the ideal place is right in front of the window.

7. Of course, beauty experts have long since moved their care and make-up treasures – into the fridge! And rightly so, because the heat damages creams, nail polishes, etc. There is one product that every one of us should keep in the fridge: after-sun care! This increases the cooling effect of this summer must-have and makes applying cream a real treat for sun-stressed skin (not just for sunburn).

Summer beauty reading: Have you thought about sun protection today?

A must in summer: after-sun care!

1. Golden Tan Maximizer After Sun Serum by Lancaster // 2. “Vinosun Protect After Sun” care milk from Caudalie // 3. Moisturizing: “Lait After Sun” from Biotherm

8. It is clear that you have to drink a lot in summer. In addition to the quantity, the temperature is also crucial. Stay away from ice-cold lemonade and hot coffee is taboo. Thirst quencher No. 1 in summer is and remains water at room temperature. Add lemon slices and/or mint to make a delicious summer drink. Also e.g. B. Blueberries provide a nice look in the carafe and a little taste. Enough of water? Then unsweetened, slightly cooled tea is the best alternative. And every now and then it can also be this healthy and low-calorie iced tea based on green tea – by the way, a creation of Sarah.

9. Did you know that food can also have a cooling effect? Of course, this doesn’t mean snacking on ice cubes straight 😉 The following quick food tips have a similar effect:

Healthy ice cream alternative: Put your favorite berries in the fridge and enjoy ice-cold as a snack in between.

“Eat water”: Consume predominantly fruits and vegetables with a high water content, such as watermelon, grapefruit, cucumber, zucchini and iceberg lettuce.

Eat light! Heavy food is harder to digest and makes us sweat even more. The summer menu therefore includes light food such as salads, fish (please without breading), lean meat, vegetable and fruit creations (keyword melon pizza – so so delicious!).

10. You can find me by the pool… Oh yes, we would all like to be there on hot days! Nail polish in pool or sea colors creates a pool party atmosphere at home or in the office. The current range of nail polishes in the beauty stores ensure you are spoiled for choice (a small selection is attached). Here’s how it works: Apply your personal favorite, adore it and dream of the sea – a refreshing effect guaranteed when you look at it!
