After the end of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3, many fans were left with a huge void. While many are wondering when Jujutsu Kaisen Season 4 will premiere, they’re also thinking about what to watch while they wait to find out what the future holds for Yuji Itadori and his companions in the Culling Game.
Although it’s natural that there isn’t a perfect match since Jujutsu Kaisen is difficult to surpass, there are some great shōnen anime for those looking for something similar. Luckily, diving into one of these action anime can help ease the sadness of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3‘s finale and, at the same time, offer viewers an exciting story they won’t regret watching.
Blood Blockade Battlefront
Blood Blockade Battlefront, also known as Kekkai Sensen, is a battle fantasy anime that feels Jujutsu Kaisen-esque, depicting the supernatural preying on the human world. With a secret society that seeks to maintain balance, woven by unique individuals, Kekkai Sensen has sublime fights that make it hard for viewers to stop watching.
Following Earth’s merging with the afterworld in Blood Blockade Battlefront, Leonard Watch gains special eyes, joining Libra to restore his sister’s sight. Leonard’s powerful eyes might remind viewers of Satoru Gojo’s Six-Eyes. In addition to solving crimes and saving the world from total collapse, much like Jujutsu Kaisen, Blood Blockade Battlefront has incredible opening and ending sequences to show off.
Dorohedoro
If, on the other hand, viewers want to take their minds off waiting for Jujutsu Kaisen with a different but equally exciting dark fantasy, Dorohedoro is a hidden gem from the same animation studio. In a strange, dirty, and grotesque magical world, Dorohedoro follows Kaiman as he relentlessly searches for the sorcerer responsible for replacing his head with that of a reptile.
Dorohedoro is a bizarre and chaotic anime that, despite its violence, pleasantly surprises with the charisma of its characters. Beyond the intrigue surrounding Kaiman’s past, the overall surreal atmosphere of The Hole draws viewers into its magic, being absurdly funny and heartwarming at times. Additionally, Dorohedoro Season 2‘s premiere could help fill the spot left by Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3.
Parasyte -the maxim-
Despite being a seinen anime, Parasyte is another alternative to Jujutsu Kaisen. Focusing on aliens instead of spirits, Parasyte tells the story of Shinichi Izumi, whose life changes after his body is possessed by a parasite. Parasyte explores the coexistence between different life forms, a theme Jujutsu Kaisen has put into perspective throughout its story.
Everything We Know About Jujutsu Kaisen Season 4: The Culling Game Part 2
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 just ended, but the anime is far from over. Here’s everything that fans should know about Jujutsu Kaisen Season 4’s release.
While it doesn’t focus on explosive fights, Parasyte is chilling and filled with death and grotesque, man-eating creatures. However, the anime proves to be much more than that, with highly realistic depictions of social issues and relationships with other living beings, even questioning the very nature of humanity. This makes Parasyte a finished anime that will leave no viewer indifferent.
Chainsaw Man
For those who want to see another protagonist pushed to his limits like Yuji, Chainsaw Man might even top Jujutsu Kaisen. In the anime, the only bright spot in Denji’s otherwise unfortunate life is Pochita. At death’s door, Denji is transformed into a human-devil hybrid known as Chainsaw Man. Albeit different than Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man is also one of the best modern shōnen.
Produced by the same studio as Jujutsu Kaisen, the fights in Chainsaw Man against devils and hybrids are incredibly cinematic, full of chaos, movement, and tension until the very last minute. Like Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man also features a protagonist who deviates from the typical shōnen hero archetype and a story that gets better with each episode.
Noragami
Like Jujutsu Kaisen, Noragami is set in a modern world with evil spirits, but instead of a dedicated society hunting them, it features a low-level, impoverished god whose only desire is to have his own shrine. Thus, showing all kinds of deities, Noragami has a profoundly Japanese essence, which sometimes goes unnoticed by viewers in Jujutsu Kaisen.
While Noragami has been somewhat forgotten over the years, the anime boasts two phenomenal seasons filled with amazing fights, dark moments that will leave you speechless, a touch of romance, and plenty of comedy. No Jujutsu Kaisen fan would regret watching Yato accept all kinds of jobs for a reasonable price.
Blue Exorcist
For those who enjoyed the school-life aspect of Jujutsu Kaisen and wish to have seen more of it, Blue Exorcist follows its protagonist entering an academy to learn how to fight demons. Similarly, Blue Exorcist‘s protagonist, Rin Okumura, must fight against his inner self as a half-demon, which is reminiscent of how Yuji Itadori struggles to control Sukuna.
Blue Exorcist is an underrated shōnen anime, a delight both for its characters and for following Rin as he reinvents himself and uncovers more about his past. With five seasons, over 60 episodes, and a manga currently in its final arc (which could lead to a final installment), Blue Exorcist is ideal for those looking for a longer anime after Jujutsu Kaisen.
Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku
Hell’s Paradise, along with Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man, is known as the “dark trio” of shōnen anime. Although Hell’s Paradise departs from Jujutsu Kaisen‘s modern Japan to feature ninjas and samurais, it also adds a battle royale feel, as its story takes place on a deadly island where a group of criminals and their guards must find an elixir of immortality.
This 2026 Anime Update Will Make You Forget All About JJK Season 3
Forget Season 3 of Jujutsu Kaisen, a new Shonen Jump anime adaptation is on the horizon, and it could finally drop the announcement in 2026.
Hell’s Paradise will please those who aren’t squeamish about violent and bloody anime fights. Beyond its brutal battles against divine beings and its well-developed power system, the anime evokes many emotions like Jujutsu Kaisen, with reflections on humanity and the duality of life and death. This makes Hell’s Paradise an excellent replacement for Jujutsu Kaisen, even more so after its second season’s finale.
Bleach
Bleach and Jujutsu Kaisen have several things in common. With a protagonist who fights ghosts using spiritual powers (Reiryoku), Bleach is one of the main influences on author Gege Akutami, who even designed the character Aoi Todo based on Kenpachi Zaraki. The anime revolves around Ichigo Kurosaki, who, after a fateful encounter, receives Shinigami powers to protect others.
Despite being one of the “Big Three” of shōnen, Bleach gained a somewhat bad reputation for its excessive filler. However, the anime has redeemed itself with BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War, which has nothing to envy in terms of fights and animation quality compared to Jujutsu Kaisen. Since Bleach is set to end in July 2026, there’s no better time for a binge-watch.
Hunter x Hunter
Even 15 years later, Hunter x Hunter remains a must-see anime, especially for fans of Jujutsu Kaisen. Following Gon Freecs on his quest to become a hunter and discover why his father abandoned him, Hunter x Hunter delivers a similar life-altering journey as Gon ventures into a new and dangerous world, much like when fans saw Yuji become a sorcerer.
Not only have many said that the Shibuya Incident wouldn’t exist without the Chimera Ant arc, but it’s the perfect follow-up to it, boasting the same dreadful and tense atmosphere from beginning to end. Furthermore, there are many nods to Hunter x Hunter in Jujutsu Kaisen that will be fun to discover.
YuYu Hakusho
For fans of Jujutsu Kaisen, there’s no better anime to watch next than arguably its greatest inspiration, YuYu Hakusho. This classic shōnen from the 90s follows Yusuke Urameshi, who, like Itadori, must eliminate supernatural monsters (yokai) to prevent endangering innocents. YuYu Hakusho not only has incredible battles but also features deep characters that remain in the shōnen hall of fame.
Both Hunter x Hunter and YuYu Hakusho were created by the same author, Yoshihiro Togashi.
Furthermore, it’s impossible not to notice the similarities between YuYu Hakusho and Jujutsu Kaisen. Such as the fact that the character of Suguru Geto is inspired by Shinobu Sensui, how YuYu Hakusho introduced the “territories,” which are reminiscent of Domain Expansions, and how Yusuke has a kind of possession similar to how Sukuna lives in Itadori’s body.
