Even among modern shonen protagonists, very few fighters possess the speed, versatility, or raw power needed to make him take a battle seriously.
Still, anime is filled with characters whose abilities stretch far beyond conventional combat. Some rewrite reality itself, others ignore the rules of space and time, and a select few simply exist on a level where Gojo’s greatest techniques may not matter. While cross-series matchups are always open to debate, these characters have the strongest case for overcoming even the strongest sorcerer.

It would likely be a huge blow to Gojo’s ego to be overpowered by a middle schooler, so he is lucky that he has never encountered Mob Psycho 100’s Shigeo Kageyama, better known as Mob. Mob’s powers are always simmering beneath the surface, held back by their user through incredible self-control.
Mob’s powers are psychic in nature, including an overflow of energy, telekinesis, and extreme speed. The way Mob harnesses his techniques is pretty unprecedented among anime characters, since there is an emotional component to the way he approaches his clashes with enemies.
The element of surprise would assist Mob against Gojo, since he only releases his powers at opportune times. Furthermore, the sheer magnitude of the psychic energy built up within him has the ability to completely annihilate Gojo on one of the rare occasions that he does choose to let it loose.

Saiki K

Saiki K may be a high schooler, but he has the ability needed to get the better of Gojo Satoru. Although he dutifully keeps his powers hidden from everyone in his life under the guise of a normal teenager, Saiki K is psychic and can use talents including clairvoyance, mind control, telekinesis, pyrokinesis, telepathy, and many more.
There is a nearly limitless list of ways in which Saiki K could triumph over Gojo. He could take control of his mind to deceive or throw him off guard, he could read his mind to predict his next moves and act in advance to avoid his attacks, or he could use his invisibility and flight in creative ways.
There are thousands of potential ways Saiki could come out on top in this scenario. Gojo also likely would not expect Saiki to be a threat, since he presents himself as an ordinary student to the world so as not to arouse suspicion, further giving Saiki an advantage.

Frieren

Frieren may not appear as overwhelmingly powerful as some of the other characters on this list, but underestimating her would be a major mistake. As an elf who has lived for more than a millennium, Frieren has spent centuries studying magic, fighting powerful enemies, and collecting spells that most mages could never hope to understand. Her strength comes from experience, preparation, and an almost unmatched understanding of magical combat.
Unlike many fighters who would immediately attempt to overpower Gojo, Frieren’s greatest weapon would likely be her ability to analyze and adapt. She has repeatedly shown an incredible talent for understanding unfamiliar magic and exploiting weaknesses in opponents. Although defeating Gojo would be an enormous challenge, Frieren’s deep knowledge of magical systems and her strategic approach make her one of the more interesting characters to consider in a battle against the strongest sorcerer.
Her biggest advantage is that she rarely relies on a single overwhelming technique. Frieren carries an enormous variety of spells, many of which serve highly specific purposes rather than simply causing destruction. Against Gojo, that creativity could matter more than raw power. If anyone could spend enough time studying Infinity, identifying its limitations, and developing a countermeasure, Frieren’s centuries of magical research would give her one of the best chances among traditional mages.

If Sung Jinwoo cannot defeat Gojo Satoru right now, odds are, at some point in his lifetime, he will be able to. What is so remarkable about Jinwoo is that he is consistently ranking up, gaining new strengths with every single battle and progressing in the ranks with no upper limit on his potential progress.
As it stands, Jinwoo is at S-Rank and has a formidable army of Shadows that could likely aid him in emerging victorious from a fight with Gojo Satoru. Even if he is not equipped to beat the strongest sorcerer yet, Jinwoo’s continual progression means he will eventually reach a point where he is more powerful than Gojo.

Giorno Giovanna

Out of all the Joestars, Giorno Giovanna is the most capable of taking on Gojo Satoru. Giorno’s Golden Experience Stand is one of the best Stands in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, offering him boundless opportunities in battle, since he can use any inanimate object around him to create new life.
When Giorno’s Stand was reborn after the Requiem Arrow struck it, it became an even more formidable weapon. Not only could the newly awakened Stand form new life from nothing, it also possesses a “Return to Zero” component, which allows Giorno to essentially reverse his opponent’s actions indefinitely.
This skill, which Giorno used to trap Diavolo in an infinite death loop as atonement for his crimes, could also be used to weaken Gojo Satoru. Gojo’s techniques are at a level few can beat, but if Giorno can effectively prevent Gojo from dealing blows at all by reversing his moves, he may have a chance against the sorcerer.

Monkey D. Luffy

One Piece’s protagonist, Monkey D. Luffy, is fast, resilient, nimble, and some of his Gears, Devil Fruits, and his Haki may be too much for Gojo Satoru to take. Luffy is very tough to win against because of the multitudinous array of skills he has.
Gojo has a handful of solid techniques, Limitless, Infinity, and Six Eyes being a few of these, but Luffy arguably has even more. He can adapt to whatever his enemy throws at him, pivoting to a new fighting style when the situation warrants it. Because of his flexibility, in both a literal and figurative sense, he could outsmart Gojo himself.

Goku is not the average anime hero who possesses a strong punch and some agility; he is a powerhouse of cosmic proportions. Gojo would meet his match in this character who was able to blow up entire planets with his might, and it may not even be a tough victory for Goku.

Throughout The Misfit of Demon King Academy, he repeatedly defeats opponents who should be impossible to overcome, often treating their strongest techniques as minor inconveniences.
That makes him one of the most dangerous possible opponents for Gojo Satoru. While Gojo’s Infinity prevents attacks from physically reaching him, Anos has consistently demonstrated abilities that operate beyond simple physical confrontation. His control over time, resurrection, destruction magic, and his ability to overpower supernatural defenses give him several possible ways to challenge Gojo’s greatest advantage. Even if Infinity initially protects Gojo, Anos is one of the few characters arrogant enough, and powerful enough, to find a way around it.

A battle against Gojo would be especially fascinating because Rimuru’s greatest strength is not simply his destructive power, but his ability to find solutions. With advanced analytical abilities, immense magical reserves, regeneration, and reality-altering techniques, Rimuru has far more options than a traditional fighter. Since his character has never been vanquished, and can consistently eliminate opponents with one punch, Saitama would likely appreciate the challenge Gojo would present. Gojo is a step above the other anime adversaries Saitama usually encounters, and fighting Gojo would quell his usual apathy and boredom, but he would still most likely gain the upper hand quickly.
